New Income Tax Slabs for FY 2025–26: What Actually Changed

Every assessment year brings tweaks to the income tax framework, and FY 2025–26 is no exception. Before you lock in your declaration, it is worth understanding how the revised slabs interact with the deductions you actually claim.

The new regime continues to offer lower headline rates in exchange for forgoing most exemptions. For salaried taxpayers with significant 80C, HRA and home-loan benefits, the old regime can still come out ahead — the right choice depends entirely on your deduction profile.

Our rule of thumb: model both regimes on your real numbers before deciding. A fifteen-minute exercise can be worth a meaningful tax saving, and it is exactly the kind of planning we do with clients at the start of the year rather than at filing time.
